Delicious Bytes was born in June of 2009 when a close friend suggested I create a food blog of my own after spending about 3 months reading them constantly! I love them! I first stumbled across one while reading the weekly update my gym, Healthworks Fitness Centers for Women, sent me. There was a link to Tina Haupert's blog, Carrots N Cake, and from there I was welcomed to the super informative and fun world of healthy living blogs! In my rare moments of spare time, I enjoy reading:

Being a freelance opera singer in Boston, MA, I lead a crazy busy life. It's not all that unusual for me to be working from early morning to late at night- with no time to eat except while driving from one music lesson, rehearsal, or performance to the next! For the first couple years out of grad school, I had a really hard time trying to eat well while I worked. Resorting to fast food or even skipping meals altogether made me continuously exhausted, and more prone to illness, which for a singer is umm... really not good.
About 3 years ago I became very interested in nutrition and started reading books and articles on healthy eating all the time, and then when I discovered the world of food blogging in spring of '09 and something just clicked! If all these young, busy girls are making it work- so can I!
This blog follows my crazy life, while I try to eat well. Being a classical singer in the United States isn't as glamorous as you might think. I feel really blessed to earn my living solely from music, but some of that time is spent giving educational performances for children in the mornings, teaching private singing lessons in the afternoons, and my evenings are usually spent either rehearsing or performing. Also... weekends are usually busier than the work week! It's quite a challenge to eat well doing all of that, and occasionally traveling as well.
Luckily, with the help of my always supportive family and friends, my musician buddies who share my craziness, my gym buddy, lots of great healthy sources to consult, Eloise my kitty who helps me unwind and not get too stressed out, and my over-scheduled pink leather day-minder, I think I'm finally getting the hang of it, and can finally enjoy this life I made for myself doing what I love!
